First Race!!!

Elijah has reached the ripe old age of 5, which, in this house, means you start swim team!!! He started the first day of practice not able to use a kick board and scared to death to swim an entire lap. I knew he had the ability, it was just a mental block. The coaches were great, but being a bit too casual for my taste, so I stepped in (I know bad!) and entered into the psychological warfare. I feel almost guilty how easily I was able to convince him of my way of seeing things and making it seem like it was his idea to do the first race.

Then, thanks to Colorado weather, the day was rainy, miserable and only 50-some degrees. Had my pep talks been enough to overcome the elements?

You bet!!!! He was so cute, so nervous and may I say....... the best part of the whole meet. He made it the whole way, no stops, to panicing and not even hanging on the rope! I don't know why swimming does this to me, but I see these kids as so brave, so powerful and so darn CUTE as they go for it! (Notice the water in his goggles)

Welcome Rozeski #3. You have joined the ranks! Get that boy a hot cocoa!

Everybody needs a Kendra!

Jason little sister, Kendra, who has a striking resemblance to Jro, is the kind of friend everyone needs! She is always upbeat, always ready to help, very resourceful and willing to try anything. She re-apolters couches, paints rooms, salvages furniture, gardens and is willing to listen to my ramblings about life.
Yes- she is the one who made those apples in the previous post (caramel, white chocolate, them rolled in apple pie spice---hello yummy!) She has recommended some of the best books I have ever read, and indeed, she brought the Twilight series into my life. I had to laugh when she shared this next video with me during swim team practice. Kendra, who make my life so much fun! Love you!

Family and Food--that's why we are here!

The thought kept running through my mind, as we had the Maugers, the Kalu's, Grandma Kathy and Gma and Gpa Rozeski all together for Memorial Day. "This is why we live here" The cousins get along so well, the adults work together to make amazing feasts! I love it, love it, love it!!! Thanks to all for the yummy food and for being such a a great family to be apart of!

Boulder Farmer's Market

Absolutely, the coldest, windiest, snowiest springs this family has seen. I must admit that this crazy Colorado weather was playing with my mind. We played all of our soccer season with hats and under armor. We have tried to be thankful for the moisture, but really, all I wanted was to slip on my sandals and forget the latitude and altitude in which we live.

Though it may be the end of MAY, this past week has given me hope.

With the big blue skies and a free saturday, we loaded the bikes and headed to my favorite town. Amid, music, dreds, hariy ladies, vagabonds, dogs, the Flat Irons and the bustling Boulder Farmers Market...... Mama was happy!

Mother's Day----Catching the Vision

Going to the theatre is my favorite date, and one that had all but become extinct through med school and residency.

Jason has never been one for surprises. I think it's because, he doesn't like to be surprised. He likes gifts cards and cash so he can pick out his own gifts. Me,..... I like to know that he has put thought into it. After 11 years of marriage, I have finally started expressing this to him and he is catching the vision. Without any hints, without fishing to see what I want....he just knew me and knew what would make me smile.

Thanks JRO!! It was perfect!

Gone!

I happened to look down, and my diamond was just gone! I searched the house, car, laundry and yard. It is just gone. It is extra sad to me, because Jason didn't have money for a diamond, so we used the one from my mom's engagement ring. I had hoped to one day replace the diamond (with a bigger one :)) and put the diamond back in my mom's ring. I am left with no heirloom and and very naked finger.
