Marking a Milestone

As all new parents know, the day the baby sleeps through the night is a time to celebrate. Well, Miss Autumn has not been a great sleeper up to this point. She has woken up every 2 or three hours to eat/toot/cuddle...leaving mom feeling haggard and ever hoping for reprieve.

Almost like magic, she turned 2 months last week and a whole new day dawned. Each night she has been sleeping longer and longer, the last two, making it from 10pm to 5am!!! Even better, she eats and goes back to sleep, leaving me with....dare I say....FREE TIME!!! I put her back to sleep (in our bed of course) I get up and do things ALL ALONE. Just me, no kids, no questions or requests. Just me, ALONE!! Yesterday, a little pilates and then a shower!!! Today, a full hour of exercise (no interruptions) and solo email reading. AHHH, it's heaven.



My fingers are crossed for this trend to continue. Good job baby Autumn!!! You are even cuter through rested eyes!

A Dear Friend

As most of you know, the first few weeks after a baby are not the most glamorous. At least for me, my body, my house and my family in general are not at our best. I have a dear friend who has had five children of her own and to my surprise and delight, she took 2 days to come and help me. She knows me and my kids so well, that she just stepped up and help in the simplest, yet most amazing ways. She let me sleep in, while she got my kids ready for school. Breakfast included!!! Next, while I was in the shower, she got down on her hands and knees and cleaned my terrible kitchen floors!!!






It meant the world to me and was a key factor in me feeling human again. I am determined to find a way to serve her someday as much as she did me. I love and miss you Miss Christin!

Holiday Pics

Well, our holidays were very low key. Out of character, I did not take many pictures, as my arms were often full. Still, we managed to few memories.

Brown eyed girl

I am terribly behind in documenting our life, so here I type with one hand as I nurse, trying to catch up. I will start with Autumn, since she is changing so much every day. Every day her eyes seem to darken more, they are nearly black sometimes. She is very social and smiley and just brings a sense of calm and peace to our family. She will coo and entire conversation with anyone who will listen. She is my first baby to take the binkie and a bottle. Now, if we can just get the sleeping at night thing down, we would really be rockin'.





Elijah likes to show her the ropes and get a jump start on her education.

UPdate

I am starting to feel like a functioning person again. Still, my exhaustion is only matched by my happiness with this new little girl. It's much harder to have an infant when you have older children. Although they help, throw away diapers and hold the binkie in place, they also have much more rigid schedules. There just isn't time for those mid-day naps and there's not a day to sleep in, since the bus comes at 8:20 no matter how little I sleep.

Autumn is growing so fast. I feel sad that she is wants to get older. I want her to always be this little thing. At her 2 week she was already 9 pounds! A few cute things about her are her little birth mark by her right eye, her struggle to uncross her eyes and her sweet/content nature.

Autumn's first 24 hours

Starting with a fun girls night out, Autumn's birth was a unique experience. I stayed tough as long as I could, but being stuck at a 3, and having been uncomfortable for 6 hours, I got my WONDERFUL epidural, they turned up the pitocine (??) and she was born 3 hours later. Delivery was short and easy and then there she was. Our littlest Rozeski. She struggled for a few minutes, needing oxygen, but recovered quickly.

She melted our hearts from the first moment. We are all totally taken by her. She is a good baby. She loves to be held and cuddled. I am exhausted and completely happy!!! I feel so blessed to have this little peanut to love. Thanks to you all for your prayers and concern. Here's a little slideshow of her first few days.
